I am a qualified teacher with 16 years experience, mostly in secondary schools. I have been a Head of History, Head of Humanities and Head of Year as well as an examinations officer. I have worked in Wales, England and Australia. I have always gained excellent exam results and I am happy to provide evidence and references that support this.

Tutoring Experience

History- 21 years as a History teacher- my main subject
English- 2010-2020- I taught English ages 11-16
Sociology- Experience teaching ages 11-16 between 2008 and 2013 and again 2021 to present.

Tutoring Approach

I try to explain things clearly and concisely at first until a student is comfortable with my approach and until I can measure a student's strengths and weaknesses. I can they tailor my approach to suit individual needs. I like to get input from the students themselves as they best understand why they are struggling academically. I use active listening and am happy to let the student guide tutorials.
