I graduated from the University of Oxford in 2017 with a high 2:1 in Classics (Literae Humaniores), and am currently based in the City of London.
My degree, which specialized in Latin and Ancient Greek language and literature as well as ancient and modern philosophy, allowed me to combine my love for languages, literature, and philosophy. I have A-Levels in Latin, Ancient Greek, English Literature, and Religious Studies, with additional AS-Levels in Drama & Theatre Studies and Maths, and I have 11 A*s at GCSE. I was awarded several prizes for academic excellence throughout my time at secondary school, as well as prizes for outstanding performance in internal exams set by my Oxford college in my final year.
I have been through the 13+ Common Entrance and Scholarship systems and am therefore very aware of the specific challenges posed especially by independent school scholarship exams, and I consider myself well-placed to provide tutoring in preparation for them.
I have been working as a tutor since 2017, and have taught students of all ages and from a wide range of schools and backgrounds. I have taught students living in the UK and abroad, including in China and South Korea. I focus primarily on tutoring English language and literature, Latin, and Ancient Greek at both prep school and senior school levels.
My GCSE English students have all achieved 9s in both the language and the literature exams. My younger students have received offers from top independent schools, including Eton College, Winchester College, and Magdalen College School, Oxford. Several of my students have achieved school prizes for academic distinction, including one student who won a King's Scholarship (13+) to Eton College, and another who won an 11+ academic exhibition to Magdalen College School, Oxford.
I aim to ensure that my students have a solid foundation in their subject, in order to instil confidence and maximise the long-term benefits of the lessons they have with me. I believe that it is also extremely important to help my students develop a broader understanding of their subject as a whole, as well as to inspire in them an intellectual curiosity and a love for learning. I try to be friendly and open in all my lessons and to make them as enjoyable, stimulating, and rewarding as I can.
