Hi,
My name is Marcus Removedand I am a recent graduate from the University of Warwick where I graduated with a first in my masters Physics degree. As someone who graduated this past summer, I am looking to keep up my involvement with maths and the sciences and this combined with my passion for teaching has brought me to tutoring. I have always enjoyed coaching and trying to teach people new things and I like to think I can often offer unique approaches to problems and frame it in ways students find more digestible.
Despite studying physics at university more for its practical applications, maths has always been my favourite subject shown by my A-levels in both Maths and Further Maths. However I know how intimidating these subjects can be, so my main aim is to get students to enjoy these subjects and to not be scared or put off by the thought of a high-level maths or science problem
I have some teaching experience from my time helping run an after-school maths club for the last couple of years. I ran weekly maths sessions for students who were struggling or who just wanted to brush up on their maths. This involved tutoring and coaching individual students through different problems, and just trying to help frame the problems in more understandable ways.
I have also been a qualified squash coach for 5 years and have led several group and individual sessions with children aged 6-18, which has given me practical experience in knowing how to optimise and get the best out of every type of student
I consider myself a very approachable and level-headed teacher, able to come at a problem in lots of different ways in order to help a student who is struggling. As someone who only left education within the last month, I know how students feel trying to learn certain topics and where the potential stumbling blocks may be, so this offers me a unique approach to being able to understand the thought processes of a student more than perhaps an older teacher at school.
I am also a very well-organised person who believes that proper work is more important than hard work. For each student, I plan on really getting to know them and their academic aims in order to best plan each session. I also plan on ascertaining syllabuses, exam criteria and revision resources specific to each exam board so I am best prepared to help each student ace their own exams
