As a passionate historical researcher and an experienced teacher, I know the skills that students need to master for their exams and the approach they should develop to thrive at a top-level university. All my lessons are tailored to students’ unique learning styles and interests. My mission is for students to be excited about their chosen subject and to enjoy mastering the material.
I have taught everything from early colonial exploration to Prohibition America, and from the Indian Uprising to 1960s Western protest movements. Whatever the period, I help students to connect the big events in our history books to the real lives of those who experienced them. My proudest moments as a teacher are when students connect past events to their own lives – suddenly history is not so dusty anymore!

After graduating in the top five percent of my undergraduate class, I earned a distinction for my History MA degree at the University of Bristol. My doctoral thesis research has appeared in several prestigious academic journals and book collections.
In addition to hundreds of hours spent in the classroom and working one-on-one with students, I have undertaken specialized teacher training focusing on different learning styles and the needs of students with cognitive differences.
I offer tailored tuition that develops students as whole learners and tackles common challenges, including:
Essay writing: Matching ideas to words is where the magic happens. I offer in-depth analysis of writing samples and give students practical strategies that demystify the writing process and get their good ideas on the page.
Non-traditional learners: I know from first-hand experience that successful students do not come in one form. As a personal tutor and a one-to-one mentor, I have learnt how to tailor lessons to an individual’s strengths and passions.
Turning it around: Students become successful when they feel in control of their own learning experience. I have worked extensively with students to tackle their problem areas while also giving them that essential confidence boost.
When I am not immersed in the past, I love being outside either hiking, cycling, or practicing yoga. I am a keen sea swimmer and visit the beautiful Kent coast as often as I can.
