My name is Maria, my academic expertise is in English literature and literary analysis and I have been working in Education for four years. I am passionate about this field and have developed tried and tested strategies to help pupils improve their understanding of the text, their confidence as learners and their grades.

Tutoring Experience

I was a full-time tutor for two years, working in countless schools across London and with private clients. I am due to complete a PGCE and become a Qualified Teacher in 2026. In the meantime, I have decided to work as a Teaching Assistant at a secondary school in preparation for the course. My role involves providing in-lesson support, art therapy, and detention intervention, as well as supporting students with their emotional and mental well-being.

Tutoring Approach

My pedagogical approach focuses on the role of self-confidence, routines and emotional well-being to provide the conditions for effective learning. In my experience, when pupils feel supported and reassured they are more likely to embrace challenge. A consistently supportive tutor helps sustain the pupil's engagement with the curriculum and their progress.
