Having taught for over 30 years I feel I'm just about getting the hang of it now. In addition to teaching content, I focus particularly on trying to change how my students learn, aiming to provide them with the kind of education and encouragement I would want for my own children. Not that I actually do provide that for my own children, of course; I’ll be looking for some other sucker to tutor those little monkeys. I specialise in maths and physics but also run sessions on essay writing (which concentrate on improving grammar, punctuation and structure). Most of my students are studying A-level or IB, but I also run some GCSE and 11+ sessions. If this sounds like it might work for you just drop me a line and we'll have a chat.

I really enjoy getting students to think more deeply about how (and, indeed, why) they study. The greatest compliment they can pay me at the end of our time together is that they've learned better how to learn, becoming the type of autodidact who will thrive in a university (or work) environment. Essentially, I'm trying to make myself redundant.
