I offer piano lessons (classical and jazz) to pupils of all ages abilities and interests and from beginner to diploma level. I have an excellent track record of exam successes and to date have entered well over 500 pupils (50% Distinction 40% Merit, 10% Pass) . I equally enjoy teaching leisure learners and particularly specialise in designing courses for adult beginners. I also offer music theory to Grade 8 (including a fast track Grade 5 course). lessons are 30 or 60 minutes and face to face, online or a mixture of both. Removed

I have worked as a Head of Music in both state and private schools but for the last 20 years I have concentrated on full time private teaching and now run a busy and well established piano and theory teaching practise based in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

Tutoring Approach

Whether it's a teenager polishing audition pieces for a music college audition, a young beginner playing duets with the teacher or an older adult discovering they can play tunes they've always wanted to play, my satisfaction comes with the level of enjoyment and sense of fulfilment in my students. I have the breadth of experience to enable me to plan personalised courses built around my pupils' own particular musical interests, abilities and aspirations. For pupils in the early stages of learning, I supplement the use of standard tutor books by using music software to produce arrangements of pieces chosen by my pupils and these are customised to their skill level. to enhance the experience, I also add backing and demo tracks for them to play along to. Whether opting for the exam or leisure routes, pupils are encouraged to record their best performances and play them to friends and family. Over the years these recordings build into an excellent record of achievement.
