I am currently studying at the Guildhall School of Music on their Music Therapy masters programme, with performance specialisms in jazz and classical studies on both double bass and piano. I have lots of performance experience in both professional and amateur settings, and feel passionate about the positive role music can play in people's lives.
I have 4 years experience of teaching 1-1 instrumental tuition, covering both children and novice adults. I have also had experience running music groups for under 5's so feel comfortable teaching for a broad range of musical experiences. After having graduated, I taught classroom Music in a secondary school, so have extensive knowledge of the curriculum, music theory, and GCSE/ A level specifications.
My belief is that Music should always be a positive and joyful thing. Whether you are playing for fun, advancing through instrumental grades, or studying it at school, having access to music can be incredibly beneficial. I feel comfortable tailoring my approach depending on the desired outcome of the student and feel that a flexible approach allows pupils to feel at ease and comfortable expressing their musical identity.
