Currently Head of Physics at a respected private Exeter college, and Educational Consultant creating physics courses to train teachers in collaboration with the University of Plymouth. I am also Physics Lead on the National Advisory Board for Future Teaching Scholars (a new teacher training route for the gifted and talented) at the Educational Development Trust. Former lecturer and researcher in physics at Exeter University for over 15 years, working closely with collaborators at Cambridge and Oxford, producing over 40 publications and patents. Qualified teacher with secondary teaching experience in various state schools, including invaluable experience with a range of special educational needs. Expert knowledge of the subjects offered to senior research level, and of the current GCSE and A level syllabus for all examining boards. Experienced in assessment and exam technique. At ease teaching from GCSE to postgraduate level.
I have taught mathematics and physics at all levels, in secondary schools, colleges and University and have an approachable manner, with the ability to communicate on the students level and put them at ease. I have experience with special educational needs, english as a second language, and working with autism.
I have 20 years experience as a tutor at A level in the private sector, and 15 years experience as a tutor at university level, providing academic and pastoral care. I have extensive experience constructing and delivering university lecture courses including undergraduate mathematics.
I am also currently head of physics at a respected private college, preferred tutor for Exeter College and Exeter Universities' Into Centre, with experience teaching students from the UAE. As such I am well versed in maths and physics at all levels for all examining boards, and in addition have in-depth knowledge and experience of the mathematics courses taught at the Into Centre, and the undergraduate physics and engineering courses at the university.
I have extensive experience tutoring European students the IB, and tutoring the International A level and Pearsons Online Learning to students in Europe, the UAE, and America. As such I welcome international enquiries and will try and accommodate time differences.
I am happy tutoring at all levels from KS3 to postgraduate, with a casual and informal approach that puts the student at ease and makes the topic accessible, but with an underlying focus that enables development to full potential. My communication skills are well honed, and I have the ability to communicate across the entire social spectrum at all age levels.
