Matthew

I am Head of Chemistry at St George's College, Weybridge, from September 2025. I taught IGCSE and A-level Chemistry at Winchester College for seven years. Previously, I taught IGCSE and IB Chemistry at Sevenoaks School. I graduated with a Master's in Chemistry from Oxford University. Outside of lessons, I have been a badminton and tennis coach. I was also a Governor at The Kings' School, Winchester, with oversight of education committee policies.

Tutoring Experience

I have 9 years of classroom teaching experience: IGCSE, A-level, and IB. Committed to professional development, I am a Chartered Chemist and Chartered Scientist. I also have Qualified Teacher Status. I have prepared sixth-form students for university degrees in Medicine, Chemistry, and Natural Sciences. The vast majority of my private tutees have achieved 8/9s at IGCSE and A/A*s at A-level. I have greatly enjoyed preparing my tutees for their own success in securing Oxbridge university interviews and conditional offers.

Tutoring Approach

I am highly attuned to the level of precision and detail required for success at examination and university interview. I am emotionally intelligent, supportive and adaptive in teaching students across the ability spectrum. I provide bespoke resources, which includes past exam and interview questions, and deliver online tuition using classroom multimedia. I will happily liaise with parents and maintain channels of communication by providing regular feedback.
