I am a modern languages graduate (Durham) and a qualified secondary school modern languages teacher (Cambridge), specialising in German. My most recent job has been as a teaching assistant at a primary school, allowing me time to look after my two daughters. I am also a school governor, where I chair the teaching and learning committee.
I specialise in GCSE German tutoring, offering support in reading, writing, speaking and listening. I like my students to practise all of these skills and give them tricks and hints to help them perform in their exams and maximise their grades.
I have tutored many children through their GCSE German with great success. All of my tutees have achieved 7-9 grades (mainly grade 9) and some have increased their grade by over 2 levels in a matter of weeks. I am now looking to focus on expanding my tutorial services.
Lots of students find German confusing. I know I did when I first learnt it at school. But it needn’t be. There’s a logic to it all, and once you have some basics it’s easy to make progress.
I’ll start slowly and carefully and build up those basics. Together we’ll work out what you are missing and plug the holes. If you’ve got the kind of brain that appreciates grammar rules I’ll explain them; if you don’t we’ll work round them. We’ll practise the skills you need and make sure you’ve got the techniques, as well as the knowledge to help you answer the questions in your exams.
