I am a musician/mathematician living in Chester. I use maths as an aid to composition. I have extensive experience using high level maths in a practical way. I completed a PhD in composition at Liverpool University. I studied Godel Numbers and encoding as part of my research. Previously I studied astro-physics at London University and studied maths to a high level.

Tutoring Experience

I have 29 years experience of teaching maths and music 1to1 and in groups. I have an outstanding record in exams thus far every student I have tutored has pass their exam.

Tutoring Approach

I try to build up the student's confidence in their ability. I show students several strategies they can use in order to answer mathematical problems. The student can then decide which approach works best for them. I stress the need to become competent at algebra since most questions require algebra at some stage. Improvements in understanding and use of algebra gives students a big boost in performance. I concentrate on showing students how to answer exam questions. I try to teach in a way that makes maths more accessible, humane and fun.
