Matthew

I am a professional singer and composer, mainly working as member of the Cathedral Choir in Gloucester and as a freelance musician. I currently provide singing lessons in 2 local high schools as well as privately and work with pupils of various ages from beginner to diploma level. I am a competent pianist so as to accompany pupils in lessons and for some performances or exams if required. I am fully DBS cleared with C1 safeguarding training through the Diocese of Gloucester.

Tutoring Experience

I have sung professionally for a number of years and a classical choral singer and soloist. I have taught at Archway School in Stroud for 3 years and have just started teaching at 5 Acres High School in the Forest of Dean. I have also taught privately for some years. I have prepared pupils for ABRSM singing and piano exams and have also taught composition and music theory.

Tutoring Approach

I aim to structure lessons to meet the individual aims of my pupils, working with pieces across a range of styles. I will endeavour to instil a healthy and versatile vocal technique which can be used for a wide variety of styles by singers of all ages and abilities.
