I am a qualified teacher, with a strong passion for English and the written word, with two years experience of teaching. I hold a Masters and Bachelors degree in English literature, both from the University of Exeter. I am skilled at breaking down texts in an accessible manner, and my use of questioning to help my students engage and think critically about the texts they are reading.
I have two years experience teaching English in a secondary school for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students for a range of abilities. I have experience with the AQA GCSE exam board for English literature and language, with experience teaching A Christmas Carol, Macbeth, and the power and conflict poetry cluster for literature GCSE. I am able to read and prepare my knowledge of the texts in advance, drawing on my own teaching resources and materials to aid this.
I tailor my approach to each individual student and their needs, including how they feel they learn best and what they wish to cover; feedback is most important so that I can deliver the best quality service for students. I am patient, friendly, and approachable, and am able to adapt my tutoring to meet the needs of students.
