I have been a full-time qualified teacher since 2015, teaching all curriculum subjects across primary year groups. Alongside my general teaching experience, I have a strong passion for computers and music, serving as a specialist subject leader in both areas.
Having taught Year 6 multiple times, I have developed a solid understanding of SATs, with strong subject knowledge in Maths, English comprehension, SPaG, and writing.
Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked for many years in a children's library and as a children’s entertainer. These roles, combined with my teaching experience, mean I’ve spent most of my life working with children in various enriching and supportive capacities.
I have extensive experience as a tutor, working with children across a range of ages and abilities to support their individual learning needs. My approach is always tailored to the student, focusing on building their confidence and fostering a love of learning.
I have successfully helped students prepare for key assessments, including Year 6 SATs, by breaking down complex concepts in Maths, English comprehension, SPaG, and writing into manageable steps. This has led to measurable improvements in their performance and confidence.
Beyond academic support, I specialise in creating engaging lessons that suit each student’s interests and learning style. Whether helping younger learners strengthen foundational skills or working with older students on more advanced topics, I aim to create a positive and productive environment.
My teaching background has equipped me with the skills to quickly identify areas for improvement and develop effective strategies to help students reach their full potential. Many of the students I’ve worked with have seen not only academic progress but also a significant boost in their self-esteem.
I take a personalised approach to teaching, tailoring lessons to each student's unique abilities, goals, and learning style while prioritising their individual needs.
With a strong ability to quickly assess these aspects, I targeted lessons to help students unlock their full potential.
I take great pride in boosting children's confidence. I understand that fostering confidence not only enhances self-belief but also leads to significant improvements in test results.
I pride myself on being flexible and responsive to my students' needs, and I am always happy to adapt the direction of a lesson based on your requests even at the last minute.
In the past, this flexibility has included helping with homework and assignments, practising piano and guitar, and even assisting a student with their lines for a play. I believe in providing well-rounded support, ensuring that lessons are both productive and tailored to the unique needs of each student.
