I have a PhD in physics (obtained working in a nuclear research laboratory, and awarded in 1989). For the past 20 years I have worked as a freelance technical translator, translating from German and French into English.
I helped both of my children while they were studying for the GCSEs and A levels, which I found satisfying and rewarding.
I have continued to attend in-person foreign language courses which has helped my to visualise the learning process from the other side and the commitment and enthusiasm required to be a successful tutor.
Patient and understanding approach combined with a desire to help students not only understand the subject but also find an interest in the subject so that learning becomes self-motivated rather than a chore.
My daughter has been tutoring for four years and has shared her experience with me, such as the best resources, and how to structure lessons.
