I have over 35 years professional experience in education in schools as a maths teacher and head of maths, as local authority school maths adviser and Ofsted maths inspector.
I am highly qualified academically with a PhD (surrey University), BSc(Hons) from Surrey University and my PGCE (mathematics education) from Cambridge University.
I am a family man, married with five children. I work from home in a convenient West London TW7 location of Osterley, Isleworth, where I can draw upon a wide range of maths teaching and learning resources to meet the needs of my tutees.
I have over 35 years professional experience in education in schools as a maths teacher and head of maths, as local authority school maths adviser and Ofsted maths inspector.
My long experience of teaching, national curriculum development projects and evaluating the teaching of other maths teachers, has over the years provided me with an extensive repertoire of teaching techniques and strategies to help children make significant improvements in their mathematics performance in school and in exams
Following an initial meeting with parent(s) and tutee, and assessment session(s), I provide a weekly programme of one-to-one individualised maths tuition matched closely to the needs of the tutee and their current school maths teaching. The tuition programme is further supported by homework carried out in the tutee's own time and followed up in the one-to-one tutoring sessions.
During the current pandemic restrictions and school closures, I also provide individualised homework followed-up by one-hour one-to-one online Zoom-whiteboard-based tuition sessions.
