I am a mathematics graduate and a qualified teacher. An A-level specialist, I have over 20,000 hours of classroom and one to one teaching experience.
Since 1998 I’ve been a full-time A-Level maths tutor and a Head of Department at London’s leading independent fifth and sixth form tutorial college. I've spent the past 25 years delivering two year A-level courses, accelerated one year retakes and Easter Revision programs to hundreds of students. During my career I’ve taught pupils from top independent schools including Westminster, St. Paul's Girls' School, Godolphin & Latymer, City of London School for Girls, Eton, Dulwich College and many others. I've also tutored pupils from state schools and international students who are new to the UK education system. All these students share the same goal: to achieve top grades and gain entry to the best UK universities.
I am passionate about teaching and invest fully in the success of every student I teach. I am a firm believer in academic integrity and understand that maths can only be mastered through a careful, systematic approach that grows from solid foundations. My teaching style is friendly and approachable yet academically rigorous and exam-driven.
With schools under so many competing pressures, most students are taught directly from a textbook, often with just a few examples on each topic. Unsurprisingly, when it comes to exam papers many have no idea where to start! This is where I can really help. I’ve spent much of my career curating and fine-tuning my resources so that everything I do is with the exam in mind, right from our very first lesson. I start with the basics and quickly delve deeper to explore how a few simple ideas can be applied in increasingly demanding and creative ways. I make extensive use of past paper questions, carefully sequenced to build confidence and help you acclimatise to every possible variation within a particular topic. My targeted, bespoke approach will show you all the shortcuts, won’t dwell on the unnecessary, and will plug the gaps the textbooks leave behind. I'll show you how to apply your knowledge to a wide range of question styles and understand how various ideas in maths fit together so you are fully prepared when the time comes.
My support doesn’t end when the lesson finishes and I am always available to provide ad hoc support outside lessons and discuss progress with students and their parents.
So, whether you’re looking for help on an occasional basis or whether you need something more intensive and bespoke such as a one year A-level, I can almost certainly help you. However, finding the best tutor is not an easy task: for complete peace of mind I offer a free 30 minute trial lesson with no obligation to continue if I'm not right for you.
