I offer focused economics tuition that makes use of my extensive knowledge and experience of the subject matter and is geared toward individual client’s needs. I am a qualified economist who has spent more than two decades in the financial services industry where I worked as research analyst and portfolio manager in roles where I regularly applied economics concepts. My offering is geared toward students who are aiming to achieve the best possible grades in A-level Economics exams set by AQA and Edexcel.
Having completed my A levels that included Economics, Mathematics and Government & Politics I graduated in Economics from the London School of Economics. I subsequently obtained my masters degree in Finance from the London Business School. Over the last two decades I have passed a range of professional exams offered by the CFA Institute, the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI), the CFA Society of the UK and the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) Association.
I have spent five years working at the CFA Institute, a professional membership body whose flagship designation is the Chartered Financial Analyst programme. The designation is awarded to those who successfully pass a set of rigorous exams on topics that include economics, financial reporting analysis and portfolio management. At CFA Institute I designed the curriculum content and practice questions across topic areas, including economics.

I have taught young people a selection of subjects including economics, quantitative methods and financial analysis over hundreds of hours in classroom and in live online setting. I have taught groups as well as individuals. My clients included those with little existing knowledge of economics as well as those who needed to improve their chances of achieving top grades. Most of my clients were young people including graduates and apprentices. I do my best to use simple language to make what are sometimes complex concepts easier to comprehend., which I started doing when I first started teaching my A-level Economics class mates and friends who struggled with the subject.
I make extensive use illustrations, diagrams and flowcharts. I rely on a range of real life examples sourced from the UK and beyond to explain microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts in action, as they apply to the real world. I believe the key to making the best use of tutoring is to identify where the most improvement can be made. I also believe it is important for teachers and tutors not to overwhelm students with issues, topics or methodologies that are not directly relevant to the exam the student is facing. I am happy to adapt the teaching style and pace of tuition to suit the client’s preferred method of learning and keep the student engaged.
