I am a consultant/contract design engineer, solving engineering problems for companies for over thirty years. My main passion is mathematics - self-taught beyond graduate level, main area of research is Probabilistic Number Theory. Removed
A degree/HND in electronic engineering and I helped my eldest son with his school maths. He is now a Royal Society–Science Foundation Ireland University Research Fellow working at University College Dublin. At present I support my youngest son who is studying mathematics in year three is at Brighton University.
Mathematics is part of our family and I enjoy assisting junior design engineers when they show an interest to learn.
Focus on the individual and the way they see maths with a view to expanding their understanding using pen and paper, white-boards and very cool YouTube videos. I know the requirements for GCSE and A-Levels but I like to show students what goes on behind the specifics, revealing the deeper connections.
