Hi! I'm a final year Medical Student at Cambridge University and a passionate tutor with over 3 years of experience. Recently navigating the medicine application process while also studying for my A-levels, I have developed tried-and-tested study techniques that have proven to be successful. Achieving 3 A*s at A-levels and ranking 7th in my Pharmacology degree, I know how to achieve top grades and would love to help you do the same!
In addition to providing support to students with their GCSE/A-level studies, helping to develop first-principle subject understanding and efficient revision techniques, I can also assist with UCAT, BMAT and interview preparation. I am also happy to provide holistic support to students outside of the classroom.
I have over 3 years of private tutoring experience in Maths, Biology and Chemistry as well as experience managing and running the academic summer school, Immerse Education. I also have experience teaching other Cambridge Medicine and Pharmacology students.
My tutoring experience spans a diverse spectrum of students, ranging from primary school to those in their final year of A-levels. This adaptability enables me to cater to individuals at any stage of their educational journey.
Furthermore, I am experienced in conducting mock interviews tailored to the rigorous Oxbridge panel interview style, for prospective medical students. This makes me well-equipped to offer guidance and support to aspiring medical students navigating the demanding application process.
From past tutoring, I have found that the tutoring style that has gotten the best results is to build up knowledge from first principles. I make heavy use of past paper questions and testing current knowledge to develop a student's understanding of a new concept from knowledge they already have. This approach has many benefits including the development of problem solving skills and lateral thinking which helps when faced with unfamiliar questions or material. I also emphasise the development of good exam technique in lessons, addressing weaknesses and providing frameworks that can be used to ensure you hit all of the marks when answering exam questions
The first lesson will involve a discussion around your current understanding of a subject and what issues you are facing at the moment. From there we will make a plan around what we will cover over time so that we can progress towards your goals.
I tend not to tutor based on a curriculum, instead basing lessons on what the student wishes to cover or what they are currently struggling with, tailoring each lesson to your needs. I can set personalised homework if desired to target the students weaknesses.
