I am a friendly, fun and patient teacher from Little Haywood, Staffordshire. My particular strength is delivering maths in an enjoyable way for children struggling to understand mathematical concepts. I pride myself on being able to adapt my teaching methods to suit all children, but especially those who are finding maths difficult to grasp.

Tutoring Experience

With over 25 years teaching experience in both Key stages, I have been a co-ordinator for both KS1 and KS2, and have been in charge of a variety of subjects. Over these years, I have gained considerable experience working with special needs, gifted/ talented and behavioural problem children in both Staffordshire and Walsall schools. I have worked with small groups of children to improve their exam techniques and revise for the SATs at the end of the year with outstanding results.In addition to classroom experience, I have also provided home tutoring to children ranging in ages from 8 to 16years of age for both maths and literacy up to GCSE level. I provide tutoring for children between 11- 16years of age who are struggling to cope with the curriculum or just need that extra support and additional confidence boost. I also specialise in working closely with home educated children/ parents aiming to support and provide a suitable plan for all concerned. I am currently working with children who need that extra support to pass foundation level GCSE maths.

Tutoring Approach

I am tutoring mainly online using Zoom during the evenings ,and face to face locally at the weekends and during the daytime.I adapt my teaching methods to suit your child’s needs and have a wide variety of games and resources.My aim is to help your child reach their full potential and improve their confidence in a relaxed and friendly manner with positive reinforcement.With the first meeting, I speak to child and parent and discuss a mutual way forward.I only do half hour sessions online at £20. I am happy to tutor face to face at weekends, I charge extra for distances over 3 miles. Due to the nature of the children that I generally tutor,I prefer to do half hour sessions online as I feel it is more beneficial.If your child is home educated in the daytime by myself, then I provide a reduced price for a long term commitment. I also provide a slight reduction in price if 4 sessions are booked in advance.
