I am a recent graduate with a BSc (Hons) in Forensic Sciences with a passion for science and languages. I am an enthusiastic and compassionate tutor and encourage students in a positive manner to reach their full potential. I help students realise their love of learning by adjusting my teaching style to suit the needs of the student. I am based in Scotland and teach online - I have over 270 hours of online teaching experience.
I have real-world experience teaching English to non-native speakers during my year abroad in Honduras. I have taught in both a public school and as an in-house tutor at my project to a wide range of ages. I am also capable of delivering lessons on other subjects including Biology and Spanish. My main focus is on building the lesson and the tutoring approach around the student's needs. At the start of any lesson, I get to know the student and set out a plan as to what their strengths and weaknesses are and what their goals are by the end of tutoring. I aim to make my lessons engaging so that they have a lasting impact.
I am well versed in helping students achieve their desired grades or helping them prepare for assessments and exams as well as personally orientated goals for learning Spanish. Age and level are not a boundary!
All of the students who I teach have obtained their maximum potential, but I also strive to ensure they have fun learning. I am a compassionate, kind and patient tutor and my methods vary to suit the student's needs. I have always had a passion for learning and strive to do my best. I hope to make my students realise their potential and love of learning!
I base my sessions around the needs of the student in regard to their strengths and weaknesses. The learning experience is built in a way to be fun and supportive whilst ensuring they are making progress with each session. I like to set goals with the students so that they have something to motivate them and work towards.
The first initial lessons are focused on building a rapport with the student to create a collaborative relationship. This is where strengths and weaknesses are outlined as well as their goals.
Each week will focus on a different topic or coincide with what they are currently learning in class. The structure of the lesson is constructed into segments: introduction, engagement, elaboration and evaluation. The engagement section is where the bulk of the teaching occurs whilst elaboration involves building on the student's skills.
Finally, the evaluation assesses what they have learnt and understood from the lesson and what may need to be covered in more detail.
