Online Tuition for Maths and Physics

Hi I am Mohammed, a first class honours graduate of Mathematics from the University of Leeds, now an examiner tutoring Maths/Physics full time!

In this last year, I’ve helped 6 students achieve Grade 8/9 in GCSE Maths/Physics and 8 students achieve A/A* in A-level Maths/Physics, allowing them to get into prestigious universities such as the University of Cambridge, Seoul National University, Harvard University, John Hopkins University and more.

My philosophy is whenever a student has an hour tutorial with me, that they will leave feeling like that was their most productive hour of the week! Please read my 'Tutoring Style' section below to understand the 3 step method I've formulated to help students reach their desired goals.

One of my strengths is being able to adapt to different learning styles - having tutored 1500 hours in the past year alone has allowed this; I understand all specifications of GCSE/A-level Maths/Physics in the UK and internationally.

My ability to build strong positive relationships with students is another plus - when you enjoy what you are doing it helps a ton efficiency wise for the student and myself! I provide regular post-lesson reports so parents are kept in the loop about what took place during the lesson, what went well, areas of weaknesses and what we will work on next.

In my free time, I play the piano a lot, mainly songs from Ludovico Einaudi and Yiruma! Either that or I'm watching korean dramas - their plots are amazing!

Tutoring Experience

I was the youngest Head of Maths in West Yorkshire history for a year before I decided I preferred private tutoring online!

Since then, I have taught over 7000 hours of Math, Physics and Further Math privately covering all UK and International exam boards thoroughly. I plan my life around tutoring because it means so much for me and it genuinely is my purpose in life!

As mentioned above, in this last year, I’ve helped 6 students achieve Grade 8/9 in GCSE Maths/Physics and 8 students achieve A/A* in A-level Maths/Physics, allowing them to get into prestigious universities such as the University of Cambridge, Seoul National University, Harvard University, John Hopkins University and more.

I also taught A Level Physics at an International Private School in Hong Kong - this was an amazing experience!

Tutoring Approach

I employ a 3 step approach to all lessons: simplification of content, application of content and spaced repetition.

Simplification - Ever read textbooks of information but not understood a word? This was my biggest problem as a student, so I condense necessary content into bite-sized chunks of content that are easy to digest, understand and remember long term! Of course, lessons are pre-planned and tailored to the students' learning styles (which I pick up on very quickly) as well as their exam board's specification.

Application of content - I have a scary amount of exam questions at my disposal! I know what questions appear in which exam board, tendencies of specific exam boards, tips/tricks when applying content to save time in exams and helping students understand why it's important to plan an answer to a question rather than dive into it hoping for the best!

Spaced repetition - homework is provided to students - this will be an exam question they struggled with in lesson which I explained, so they can recap the content one more time. I create mini-assessments after 2/3 topics have been covered to ensure long term memory of content too.
