Having done A levels in Mathematics and Further Mathematics, I have the Mathematics skills to help my students to succeed in this subject. For Maths GCSE, I specialise in foundation Maths. I'm currently studying a BA Modern Languages degree (French, Russian and German) at the University of Exeter which I believe showcases my unique perspective in analytical thinking and problem solving. The range of languages I study gives me a deeper understanding of how languages work, the challenges of learning them, and the best strategies to improve, which I apply to help my students learn French and German more effectively. I am here to help my students excel through clear explanations and a patient attitude.

Tutoring Experience

I currently tutor on MyTutor with an average of 5 star reviews. I volunteered as an English assistant at a French school in Brittany, enhancing my cultural awareness, language proficiency and cross-cultural communication skills, through immersion with a French host family. I taught English to 2-11 year olds, which included reading stories to children, teaching them English games and songs and answering their questions about England. I supervised students during breaks and small groups in class, ensuring everything went smoothly and that they were focused during schoolwork.

Tutoring Approach

I begin my teaching by understanding the student's needs in their subject, as every student is different. I aim to create a tailored plan to help each individual student succeed. I regularly check in with the student on whether they have any questions or if there is anything they don't understand, making sure to offer support for those who may feel too shy to ask. No question is ever too simple to ask. This creates a supporting and encouraging environment.

In French and German, I ensure my students have a strong foundation in grammar and vocabulary as I believe this is the key to language learning. I regularly revisit vocabulary that they have previously got wrong. incorporating them into translation exercises, to promote spaced repetition and to cement new vocabulary in their memory.

In Maths, I break problems into manageable steps. I use exam-style questions to make sure that they feel confident in tackling the types of questions they'll face in their exams.
