Are you searching for a Tutor that helps you visualise the concepts and not just explain them to you?
Are you searching for a Tutor who understands you, motivates you and makes Science and Maths seem a lot less intimidating and a lot more interesting?
Hello! My name is Nazifa, your dedicated tutor with a passion for making learning not just effective but exciting. I am a current MEng student in Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. As someone who completed her GCSEs and A levels fairly recently, I am very well versed with the struggle and anxiety one faces when going through these courses so I want to help you understand all of these complex topics with ease, in a way that you retain it for a long time.
As someone who has been studying Maths, Chemistry and Biology her whole life, I hope to share my passion for these subjects with you to make lessons less intimidating and more engaging.
With over 3 years of tutoring experience, and having worked with students from year 6 all the way to A level students, I have had the opportunity to understand how different everyone’s learning style is and how this one-size-fits-all approach never truly works when it comes to making the lessons actually effective for everyone.
Over the years, I have mastered the ability to personalise my lesson plans in order to be effective for every one of my students and cater to their specific needs. Whether it be through detailed explanations, mind maps, flashcards, or regular practice, I try to incorporate different ways of learning to make my lessons genuinely interesting and effective . I also always try to organise one-on-one sessions with any student if they feel they are struggling with any topic.
I am very dedicated towards creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment where all my students feel comfortable raising their queries and doubts without any sort of hesitation.
As someone who had the Country Highest mark in Chemistry and missed on the World Highest mark in Maths in A levels by one single mark, I have developed various strategies to tackle complex concepts and tricky questions and I try to help my students with these strategies that have helped me immensely in my school life.
My tutoring philosophy revolves around not just teaching subjects, but also equipping students with the tools and strategies they need to become independent learners, a skill that is very useful not just in school life but in university life as well.
In my tutoring approach, I prioritise developing a thorough understanding of each topic through clear and easy to understand explanations and relatable examples. I break up a complex topic into smaller portions and then go through each portion separately by first explaining it in multiple ways and then practising several questions. I believe covering each topic this way ensures the students have a good understanding of the topic as well as enough practice for exams.
One key aspect of my tutoring approach is making sure the students can retain the information they learn for a long time. I try to achieve this using mind maps after completing each topic to help the students visualise how each of the concepts they learnt are interrelated. I make flashcards for each of the topics covered as well. I provide all my students with copies of these mind maps and flashcards so they could use them for revision before exams. I also take regular tests to ensure all my students are up to date with the content covered.
I emphasise on unlocking the full potential of each student and helping them become an independent learner by conducting one on one sessions, personalised practical study tips and continuous feedback.
Let’s work together to turn your goals into achievements. With my personalised approach and commitment to your learning journey, we’ll make every session count.
