I have taught Psychology and Sociology (AQA specification) since 2005 at various Sixth Form Colleges and Schools in London and the South East of England. My previous role was as Head of Social Sciences at an 'Outstanding' state school in Fulham that performs in the top 25% of schools nationally at A level. I have subsequently relocated to the Bournemouth and Poole area . I pride myself in helping my students achieve their maximum potential and believe that with the right guidance and motivation, all students can excel.
In addition to my A level specialism, I have also taught IB Psychology and have been an AQA examiner in both Psychology and Sociology and will resume being an examiner in 2022. I am able to teach students on all topics on the AQA Psychology specification across all three papers. In Sociology I can teach and prepare students for exams in the following topics: Education, Media, Crime and Deviance and Theory and Methods.
I believe it essential to upskill my students academically at A level as this enables them to achieve their maximum potential in the final exams and moving forward to Higher Education. A key element of my teaching approach is to build a positive rapport and trust with my students, whilst also challenging them to work hard and succeed. I focus on decoding the complex language needed in Psychology and Sociology, improving essay skills and building more effective revision techniques. I have bespoke learning resources that I will provide for my students and detailed feedback on how to improve on their knowledge and skills will be given.
