I am an actor, singer and dancer who lectures and course coordinates in a Further and Higher Education College in Belfast. My experience as an actor covers Theatre, Film and TV, Radio and Musical Theatre. I am also a qualified Drama and Performing Arts teacher with experience teaching English, English Literature Music, History and RE. My motto as an educator is 'All can' meaning that I truly believe we all can learn and achieve with some guidance, hard work and a good cup of tea. I have experience teaching pupils aged between 7 and 19. I am available for tutoring in AQE, GL, GCSE, A-Level and have a 100% success rate in students achieving places in their chosen university courses. Academic boards include CCEA, AQA, Edexcel, BTEC, LAMDA (Acting solo) LCM (Classical Singing, Musical Theatre) and OCN. I also examine for CCEA and BTEC giving me an insight into the requirements of achieving the top grades. However as a teacher I strive to not only have my pupils achieve examinations but to also grow in confidence and develop a love for learning that will last a lifetime. My passion and enthusiasm for my subjects are obvious and I continue my training with regular CPD. I am first aid trained, have a Level 5 diploma in teaching learners with specific learning difficulties, experience teaching pupils with a wide range of special educational needs and also am fully DBS checked.
My teaching experience spans from Primary to Degree level. I have taught in both Specialist Performing Arts/Drama Schools, State Schools (Grammar and Secondary) and also Further and Higher Education Colleges. I am comfortable teach those with Special Educational needs including dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, ASD. My experience as an examiner (GCSE/Level 2 Drama, English Literature, A-Level/Level 3 Drama, English Literature, Performing Arts) has given me a rare insight into the examination process enabling me to prepare students efficiently in exam technique.
My teaching approach is very student centred and dependent on the needs of the student. I am energetic, focused but (according to some) ‘still able to have a laugh’.
