I studied Cello & Composition at The Royal Academy of Music 1975-78
I have played in many different orchestral chamber and other ensembles and have participated in musical projects across the whole spectrum of musical performance.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught Cello & Bass for the I.L.E.A., Somerset and Suffolk County Music Services and I teach Cello and Bass at Culford School near Bury St. Edmunds. I have taught Music Performance at B-Tec level and I have a home studio where I work on a variety of projects of my own and with others.
The studio is equipped with a variety of instruments and with full recording facilities, using Cubase, Logic, Pro-Tools LE and Sibelius 5. and is available to anybody who wishes to use it!

Tutoring Approach

I am able to offer tutoring in Music G.C.S.E. and I can provide help and advice with all aspects of G.C.S.E. Composition and Performance as well as straightforward revision procedures and techniques. I recognise the problems inherent in the syllabus with regard to producing musical compositions, eg. inspiration (getting started!), structuring, notating and so on. I can also help with all aspects of Music Technology, software, programming, sampling etc. I try to provide a rounded approach to music; not just memorising the facts, but seeing music as a phenomenon, of infinite interest.
