Qualified and experienced teacher of maths, English, French and Italian. With over 30 years teaching experience and 7 years as a private tutor. Lessons are tailored to the individual - and I will ensure lessons are engaging and fun.
I teach maths from age 4 up to Foundation level GCSE.
As well as one-to-one I also do online group lessons in Italian and French.
I qualified from Manchester Polytechnic with a Bachelor of Education degree in 1989 and after a couple of years in primary I moved to Italy to teach English as a Foreign Language. I continued teaching English in Italy, Brighton and Australia for the next 12 years and have the Certificate and Diploma in EFL. In 2003 I returned to primary school teaching, and have had part-time and supply teaching jobs since then. In 2011, I started "Little Parrots" where I taught French and Italian to both children and adults. I currently work at Brunswick Primary School as a year 4 teacher where I have been for the last 3 years.
My approach in teaching maths is eclectic and I tailor each lesson to the child, after an initial diagnostic session and consultation with both parent and child. In maths teaching I have built up a range of resources over many years including base ten, rods, place-value counters and other resources to help to thoroughly embed mathematical concepts and understanding. In my language teaching, the language being taught is taught in a communicative way so that we are speaking and hearing it as much as possible with a range of activities to make the lessons fun and interactive.
