Qualified teacher of Chemistry to both A-level and GCSE standard. I am based in Salisbury.
21 years teaching A-level Chemistry in four 11-18 schools, most recently teaching OCR A-level Chemistry. Experience includes positions of responsibility including Head of Chemistry and Head of Science as well as senior leadership roles in secondary schools rated either 'Good' or 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. I also have experience as an A-level examiner for Chemistry
Many students select A-level Chemistry because it is an essential qualification for the study of Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science or Pharmacy at university and I have extensive experience of coaching students whose aspirations are in this area. Others just need help with understanding the mathematical demands of the course, or seemingly complex topics like organic reaction mechanisms, and I seek to clarify and explain these concepts logically, untangling them in a clear and straightforward fashion. There is no 'off the shelf' method to teaching A-level Chemistry because each individual student is different and it is important to build up a picture of the student's own strengths and development areas before planning how their learning can best be supported.
