I am a 56 year old semi-retired father of two with 20 years experience of teaching maths to 11-69 year olds. I have taught GCSE and Functional Skills L1-3 in schools, homes, a hairdressing academy and a women's prison.
18 years teaching 11-18 year olds in state schools.
2 years teaching adults Functional Skills Maths in a prison.
6 years tutoring students to pass GCSE/A level exams and to consolidate/extend learning in between - from year 7 to adults.
My job is to relieve the students’ stress and help them believe in themselves. I’m both their safety net when they struggle in class and the one who shows them just what they are capable of. If they are aiming very high I will stretch them from an early stage in ways that are both manageable and exciting.
