Online Maths and Physics Teacher

Hi, I'm Olivia and I'm 21 years old. I studied at the University of Cambridge and achieved a high 2.i in Natural Sciences specialising in pathology. Prior to university, I achieved four A*s in A levels in Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Biology. I achieved top marks (9s/A*s) in all of my GCSEs. These included an A* in Human Biology which I self taught myself at 14 and I achieved the highest geography GCSE result in the country.

I have worked in finance for the last 6 months and I have an offer to study a masters in Global Health Policy at Trinity College Dublin in September 2024.

Outside of academics I am a keen athlete and really enjoy endurance running and triathlons!

Tutoring Experience

I have worked as a tutor previously for a wide range of ages. I have worked with students aged 8-11 working for secondary school entrance exams and those students successfully passed. I have also worked with a primary student requiring extra support in comprehension and literacy skills and felt we worked really well together and helped to elevate both skills and confidence.

I have also worked as a tutor for students studying maths, biology, chemistry and physics at GCSE and A levels. The feedback I received was all extremely positive and the students did really well in both improving their understanding and in exam results.

Tutoring Approach

For maths, I think a practical approach of questions that both build confidence and stretch students are important. It helps to align these questions to exam curriculum so that students are as familiar as possible with exam format questions.

For physics, biology and chemistry, I think it's best to be guided by the student and identify areas that are perhaps more difficult for that student and focus on building knowledge and confidence in these areas combining teaching and example questions.

For me it's important that the students enjoy their subjects and so providing work at the correct level with a tailored approach to individual needs is essential.
