I am a highly reflective, diligent practitioner. I take great joy in personalising learning experiences and getting to know my students' individual needs. I aim to equip young people with the tools to help them to make sense of the curriculum and to instill the confidence to achieve their dreams and ambitions.
I have over 8 years' experience teaching students in Year 7-13 in independent schools in London and Singapore. I work as both English teacher and Assistant Head of English. I currently teach and tutor A-level English Literature, IGCSE English Language and Literature, and IBDP English Language and Literature. I have previously prepared students for 11+ Common Entrance examinations. My examination classes continue to achieve positive value-added scores each year.
I unfailingly adapt my practice to meet each student’s needs: this might be by providing additional challenge for students to stretch themselves and develop their independence as learners; it may be fostering resilience in a student who believes that they “can’t do it”; it could be providing differentiated materials for a student with specific learning needs or offering support and empathy to a student with emotional needs. Such individualised support means students are adept in the critical thinking and communication skills needed to become future leaders and changemakers. This approach has meant continued success for my exam classes each year.
