I am a young professional in the East of England, looking to expand my teaching and help students develop core English language skills at all levels. I use a lot of creativity, empathy and adaptability in my everyday job to guide individuals on a one-to-one basis through personal support and mentoring. I have an enthusiasm for language learning myself and this is definitely one of my key strengths! Finding out about different languages and cultures through travel and exploration is something I love to do.
My experience has been in teaching assistance roles in school environments. This has allowed me to use my abilities to help students on an individual basis and ensure they understand the teacher's lesson material. I have experience working with students with special educational needs, both at university and in a specialist school. My areas of expertise include knowledge of autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia and dyspraxia. During my time at university I was an academic mentor to several students with disabilities and helped them achieve success with their studies - this included note-taking, proofreading for grammar, researching study materials, and help with exams. I have experience and knowledge of the TEFL approach to teaching and am happy to use this in my classes.
I aim to use a combination of writing, reading, speaking and listening materials in my lessons, as I believe that these are the four most important areas of language development. However, my approach to teaching is very much guided by the student and will be tailor-made for their specific needs and what they want to achieve. For instance, if you want to focus on having conversations and improving your spoken vocabulary, we will dedicate more time to speaking exercises. If you want to learn and revise key grammar points, there will be more reading and writing, with feedback from me along the way. My method will be to get to know the student as an individual, first and foremost, and work alongside them to help them achieve their own personal goals.
