I’ve been lucky enough to be educated around the world in Ireland, Australia, and Norway, studying a wide range of subjects from physics to philosophy, literature to languages. This year I start my secondary school teacher training, studying an English PGCE at UCL. I strongly believe in making learning fun as well as establishing a structured study routine that allows a student to see their hard work pay off in attaining high marks. I recognise that every student learns differently and will always bring patience and an open-mind in coming to accommodate for each individual's preferred learning style.
I attended one of Australia's best independent schools, where I personally enjoyed and succeeded in English Literature, Physics, and French - attaining the highest grades and my overall performance in senior secondary subjects was in the top 1% of all students from across the state. I strengthened this ability to respond critically and imaginatively to texts by studying a Bachelor of Arts at university. I majored in Philosophy, and attained first-class honours at the University of Melbourne, Australia's number one university. I also have international experience working as an Au Pair in Norway and doing tutoring work at a high school homework club back in Australia. My fluency for German comes from living in Berlin for 4 years.
I've worked with many students of varying abilities and am confident in my ability to bring a differentiated approach to my tutorials. Most recently, I spent this Summer working in America as an outdoor educator for students on two month-long courses in the Minnesotan wilderness doing a mixture of canoeing and backpacking. This elevated my skills in managing the social-emotional development of students since I was working with students who were experiencing a range of different behavioural issues and challenges relating to their own neurodivergent needs.
