Owen's Feedback

Owen has been teaching both my Children (aged 11 and 8) for over a year now and I rate him extremely highly as I can see first hand that my children bonded very well and make a great efforts. Our aim was to get their English comprehension and writing to a higher level to support their transition into Secondary school where they have to hit the ground running. It is going very well. A highly recommended tutor.

Owen was quick to understand our son's needs and areas which had to be addressed in only the 4 weeks before the RS exam.
Our son is sports mad and it was good that Owen used sporting analogies to structure answers and how to approach the aspects of RS. These will also be transferrable skills to apply in other subjects like English that require written answers.

Absolutely excellent! I cannot recommend Owen highly enough. My daughter moved from an E in her A level mocks (RE) to an exam result of a B. He managed to tap into her way of learning and engage her in a subject she was struggling with. He thoroughly researched her syllabus so every lesson with him was productive. I can honestly say this is the best way possible to help your child. I am so pleased we used Owen as a tutor.

Owen has really started to forge a great relationship with our son after just a few sessions.

Owen is fantastic and a talented tutor. The aim was for my son (12) to have the flexibility to talk about topics he may be interested in such as history, philosophy, politics and ethics. This was to help him find, perhaps, his focus for the future. I found Owen to be very flexible with his approach and he did let my son drive some topics. Owen had no problem jumping between various topics during each class which shows his patience and dedication.
Feedback from my son: I think Owen is very knowledgeable and can puzzle me with many philosophical dilemmas. He is great with history and teaches me lots about many different periods in history. I love his approach. He is easy to understand, I connected with him well from the first lesson. I think his tutoring will help me with my understanding of the past and consequences resulting in today's affairs.

I cannot recommend Owen highly enough. I contacted him in late 2020 for support with my teaching of my son, who was studying Ancient History at home with me, as his school could not offer him a humanities subject. My son has Asperger's syndrome but this was no problem at all for Owen. Owen is patient, kind and caring. But most importantly for a tutor, he knows all the background that I couldn't supply. Owen agreed to mark both online work and paper copies to build up an independently reviewed sample of work in case of possible exam cancellations. he billed me fairly for this work at the same hourly rate as for his tutoring. Owen encouraged Duncan when I was unable to get a response from my son. He talked to him about university life and studying beyond GCSE's because hey, I'm just mam, what do I know. As a result, my son is expecting a grade 7+ for his GCSE Ancient History. And, if my son does decide to take Classical Civ for A level, I will be contacting Owen immediately to renew his appointment.

Whilst my daughter has had only 1 tutoring session with Owen, I am very impressed so far he identified the topics that needs to be concentrated on ready for her GCSE's this year. Another good point was that he asked my daughter how she prefers to absorb information.
