I am a French native who has been teaching French as a Foreign language since 1988. I love interacting with the students, teaching my language, sharing my culture and helping people grow in confidence and ability with the French language.
I have taught people from all walks of life, with the most diverse range of needs, abilities, requirements, and personalities: children learning French for fun after school, teenagers preparing for exams with all the major exam boards, non-native French teachers wishing to ensure their French is of the highest quality, adults looking for relaxed conversation or holiday French, and people needing business French. Some had the luxury of time when learning, while others needed extremely focused and intensive courses to prepare for specific events such as moving to France to live and work, attending a job interview in French, or managing projects in France. I have taught people on a private basis, in small groups on company premises, and in larger groups for the Adult Education Service.
To provide a relaxed and friendly environment even when the student’s agenda is a pressured one, and make learning as fun as possible. Every lesson should be a nurturing experience for the student. What contributes to this relaxed atmosphere is my thorough planning of lessons behind the scenes, which ensures that both the content and progression speed of the classes are exactly tailored to the student(s)’ abilities and needs.
I also adapt my methods to the student(s), not just to what they need to learn and how much time they have to do so, but their personality, interests, and how they learn best. The idea is to be totally student-focused: I wish to give them what they, as an individual, need to thrive and progress.
Over the years, I have successfully taught extrovert people, shy people, logical learners, instinctive learners, and students with special needs such as dyslexia or ADHD, and feel that they all required slightly different approaches.
