I am a former university lecturer.
I have been teaching since 2010 at a variety of institutions in Canada, Ireland and England. This has mainly focused on first year undergraduate Physics and Maths, and being the module leader for a second year "problem solving class." This involved the subject module leader giving students a set of exercise problems to tackle, and myself along with some Ph.D. student demonstrators assisting students when they got stuck.
I also have some experience teaching maths and physics to adults returning to education.
With personal tutoring one has to take each student on a case by case basis, discover their strengths and weaknesses, work on the areas at which they are not so strong but at the same time not neglect the areas where their strength lies, and also help them to develop an approach to exam success. This would be done by tackling questions and doing past exam papers, and overcoming any conceptual difficulties that the student might have with the subject matter.
