The most important thing I have learned from my previous roles in accounting and investment banking, is that I want to make a difference to young people's lives and improve their life chances. I am the subject lead for business studies and have taught GCSE and A-level business studies. I am head of careers and enjoy the challenges of helping young people progress.
I have taught AQA A-Level business studies since 2019 and have a wide range of resources that help scaffold learning. I have been moderated (2021) by the chief examiner of paper 1. The comments he gave me were I was in line with the marking and he would like me to be one of his markers. I also teach OCR GCSE and have a writing frame that has proven a success of improving my students results. The experience that I have from being an accountant for 3 years prior to teaching has allowed me to break down the financial aspect of business studies to make it manageable and enjoyable for students.
I am to do the following:
- Make the subject engaging and break topics down
- Link topics to other areas in the course to achieve better outcomes.
-Focus on exam technique through writing structures and homework essays that will be marked using the relevant marking grid.
-Providing feedback of how a student can improve their analysis and evaluation to access the higher marks.
