With over 20 years of experience in education, I have successfully taught students across a range of settings and age groups. I take a patient and structured approach to all sessions and tailor lessons to individual needs - giving each and every session the diligence and respect it deserves, ensuring effective planning and measurable progress. My track record speaks for itself—wherever I have worked, student outcomes have improved significantly. Whether supporting struggling learners or challenging high achievers, I am committed to building confidence and achieving results.
Achieved Qualified Teacher Status in 2004
Worked as Key Stage Co-ordinator, Head of Department and Lead Practitioner of English encompassing Key Stages 3,4 and 5 across schools in Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and London as well as a teacher of Media at KS4 and 5.
Worked as a 1:1 tutor since 2015, initially in person but moving online as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
I have been an examiner for AQA GCSE since 2014, and am well versed in the best approaches to achieve the best results across the English exams.
I have a proven track record of improving outcomes for students in both Summer and November entries and a long list of previous, happy clients.
My approach is dynamic, pacey and student-focused. My sessions revolve around getting the maximum out of me as a tutor as well as out of the learner. Sessions are outcome-focused and planned backwards with a wide variety of quickfire, engaging tasks that build toward a more extended final task - and there is (almost) always homework!
I thrive on student interaction and encourage pupils to ask questions in order to help me more specifically cater for their areas of need - each and every session is individualised and delivered alongside bespoke resources to achieve maximum progress in a limited time.
I am flexible as regards appointments and endeavour to see pressure points (mock and final exams for instance) well in advance in order to move sessions accordingly.
