Paula's Feedback

Paula has been an excellent tutor for my son over the last year and was instrumental in him achieving a grade 9 at GCSE.
My son describes her as supportive, flexible to his needs (e.g. not a rigid lesson plan and able to go through issues that came up in the week). She identified and strengthened his weaker areas and was able to find new ways of reviewing them. She is kind, caring and lessons were fun.
From my parent perspective, she was professional, kind, understanding and responsive to the needs of my son. I would highly recommend Paula. Thank you.

I had twins in higher set Spanish, at the end of year 10 one was ungraded due to missing time off school and the other one was struggling with her confidence with her knowledge of Spanish and felt she was along way off her target grade.

I looked for a tutor in October just before they sat their mocks before Christmas so the tutor given them a few lessons before the mocks but then could see where they were at once we got the mocks results back. Then start them on a path for after Christmas with where their gaps were.

I found Paula on first tutors and was very impressed with her CV and her level of professionalism. We agreed on lessons at our home to support one of my twins that had missed 6 months of school and felt that was better than online lessons.

From the first lesson to the last lesson just before their last Spanish exam, Paul turnt up on time, packed full of lessons plans, with a high level professionalism and fun and warmth that engaged my daughters from the moment she she walked in the door .

Lessons were always printed off in advanced, home work set if we asked for it and was always happy to look at class workout they were struggling with or check over their revision. Paula knew the exam board inside out and was comfortable to all areas of the curriculum.

Paula's lesson's gave back the confidence to my twin that had missed the chunk of time off school. Within a few lessons Paula could see she knew the content it was the time talking in Spanish with her teacher that she had lacked and Paula built up that confidence very quickly. By the two girls having their lesson together it meant they could talk on Spanish together and quiz each other and have conversations together with Paula and worked to their advantage.

Paula always greeted hello and said good bye in Spanish and asked questions of their week in Spanish and they would have little jokes back between them in Spanish that built over the months of lessons. She always had time to talk to me after a lesson to give feed back, I always felt like I was getting an honest answer.

We were sad when the lessons finished at the end of exams, as Paula gave both my girls the confidence back that they needed in speaking and translation that they weren't getting in a class of 30. Both the girls teachers at school had made comments before their exams that the girls vocabulary had expanded and were impressed with both off their confidence levels when it came to the speaking exams.
I wish i had started lessons with Paula in year 10 instead of leaving it to year 11, having lessons every week in year 11 worked for us to get back that confidence and cement the foundations but I wish we had of started in year 10 once a month just to cement those foundations sooner .

They both got their results back and both hit their target grades and very pleased with their results and feel that all those lessons with Paula helped them feel confident in the exam.
We will be using Paul's again for our younger daughter if she takes Spanish.

Paula stepped in at short notice to deliver a couple of Spanish GCSE speaking exam practice sessions. These really helped and my daughter went into her exam with confidence.

Paula has been really great with my son - he has made so much progress and gained confidence in Spanish. With Paula’s support he received a grade 8 in his recent report (compared to 5/6 before). Paula was a great tutor for my daughter. Her lessons were fun and my daughters Spanish grade improved a lot. She was predicted a grade 4 for her GCSE exams, and with Paula’s help she achieved an 8.

Paula has done a fantastic job with my son helping to prep him for his GCSE Spanish exam. All the tuition has been conducted remotely, which has worked well allowing flexibility of the timing of his lessons and he has enjoyed the lessons with her. We haven't got his actual GCSE result back yet, but he did get a 9 in his mock exam, evidencing the great job that Paula has done.

My daughter had some lessons to bring up her skills in Spanish, Paula did an awesome job we shall be using her again in the holidays.

We have made a fantastic start to lessons and my daughter has really enjoyed them. Prompt fast communication

Paula is a brilliant Spanish tutor and I couldn't have found anyone better for my son for his GCSE Spanish. Through Paula’s enthusiasm and willingness to go the extra mile, my son feels much more confident in his Spanish and is reassured by the knowledge of having her support at anytime right up to his exams. She has challenged and stretched him by providing him with a vast array of resources which altogether have boosted his confidence and, in only 10 half an hour lessons, have taken him from a grade 5 in Spanish to being asked by his Spanish teacher to take Spanish at A-Levels next year.

After a web search for tutors, we booked Paula for one to one Spanish sessions for our son in Year 11.
She is a brilliant tutor. She is enthusiastic, engaging, has a deep subject knowledge and can transforms our son's mood even when is tired after a long school week.

Conscientious, organised and helpful.

Great tutor! I wanted help with my Spanish conversation and she helped immensely. She was very patient while I fumbled my words, while trying to articulate my thoughts… and she only offered suggestions when I really struggled. I really enjoyed our lessons as Paula was very friendly, but professional, and always engaged with my topics of conversation. The main help was that she motivated me to explore the tenses that I found tricky. Thanks Paula!

So lucky to have found Paula. She is a wonderful Spanish tutor. Incredibly patient and kind, she got the very best out of both my sons. One had found Spanish in general quite difficult the other found it easier but wanted to improve his speaking skills. Both have now widened their Spanish vocabulary and their accents are excellent. As a result of a Paula’s tutoring they achieved top marks for their GCSE Spanish and Institute of Linguists exams. One of my sons continues to have lessons with Paula now even though he is not taking Spanish for A level as he wants to continue to develop his Spanish further. Completely his choice but clearly thoroughly enjoys learning with her.

Paula has been really helpful for my son! He is currently in year 10. She is very attentive and very reliable in committing to classes. She also gives feed back to me after a few sessions which helps me understand where my son is at his learning pace. My son thoroughly enjoyed her lessons and we will strongly recommended her!

Paula was a brilliant tutor - we did oral practice every week for my AQA A level oral examination and she gave me confidence to speak fluently about difficult topics ranging from dictatorships to cultural heritage.

The resources she bought were incredibly useful and she always researched my topics further to provide me with more information and strengthen my arguments.

Paula is an incredibly reliable and friendly tutor, who made me feel comfortable and has greatly improved my Spanish vocabulary range, master of grammar and fluency.

Paula has been working with my daughter for the past few months after my daughter came home distraught that she was 'failing' Spanish and had been so nervous in her Spanish oral. Since that point the turnaround in her confidence levels has been amazing.
My daughter is very comfortable with the Sciences and Maths but has always been a very reluctant learner of languages. Since having lessons with Paula she happily completes the targeted grammar exercises. This is such a huge reversal for someone who has hated every moment of learning both French and more recently Spanish. Now, however, she says she actually enjoys learning Spanish!
The lessons are conducted on Skype which gives us greater flexibility and makes it so much easier to fit into her out of school schedule. We don't waste time travelling and yet the sessions are still really interactive. Paula is able to use a bank of resources to explain and pinpoint areas in need of improvement. More important than that Paula has found a way of creating an encouraging environment in which my daughter isn't afraid to try.
Overall, I'm very happy with the lessons and only wish we had started sooner.

Excellent tutor

My 13year old daughter has just finished an online Igcse course, and I was looking for a tutor for some practice prior to exams.

My daughter had the pleasure of having 6weeks tutoring with Paula- prior to sitting her igcse Spanish Exams. She has thoroughly enjoyed her tutorials. Found them extremely beneficial.

We contacted Paula shortly before our daughter was due to take her GCSE Spanish Oral as she was feeling a little nervous about it. Our daughter was not sure if a tutor would help but after the first hour Paula had boosted her confidence and given her a lot of helpful feedback. We asked Paula to come back each week during the GCSE exams and she was extremely helpful both during the sessions and by providing exercises for self-study.

Our daughter is now much more confident in Spanish and is expecting a good grade in her GCSE. She has enjoyed it so much that she has now opted to take Spanish at A-level.

I'm so glad I found Paula, she has been such an amazing and supportive Spanish tutor. Due to her dedication and patience my Spanish has improved so much; not only is she enthusiastic during our lessons but also always provides extra materials outside our class. I have lessons with Paula through Skype, which has been a good experience and not at all hindered my learning. At first I only wanted Paula to help with oral, however, because of her Spanish knowledge and ability I have continued our lessons.

I would definitely recommend Paula to anyone studying A level Spanish, she is one of the only Spanish Tutors that I have come across that knows the exam board very well, this includes the cultural texts (I am studying La casa de Bernarda Alba and Volver). Paula is not only an incredible teacher but she also has a heart of gold, I could not have asked for a better tutor!

I have just completed session 6 with Paula.I was very nervous before the first class, but Paula put me at ease immediately and spoke to me in Spanish as soon as she met me at the door.She is a very smiley person, very professional and conversation ranges over all kinds of subjects which I couldn't have imagined before after being at a U3A beginners class.I have homework mainly in the form of expressive writing, and although I have to look up many words it is helping me to understand the structure of the language and to think in Spanish.I am motivated, at the age of 75, to learn more, and of course to speak more.
She would also be an excellent group teacher.

Started with Paula after my daughter's school changed the teacher every term this school year. Paula was very welcoming, and assessed for weak areas before working on strengthening them. She is fantastic to talk with and I felt totally at ease. She is very flexible around when, where and for how long you want lessons and around your learning style and goals.
