Enthusiastic portuguese aerospace engineer. I have a passion for mathemats and physics from the great teachers and tutors I interacted with growing up. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to reach their maximum potential and with appropriate specialised teaching, I know they can.
Throughout university I supported my studies with a part-time as a tutor for GCSE maths and physics students. This developed my understanding of what great teaching is and solidified my foundations on these topics, as there is nothing wrong with refreshing on old concepts. I also took the opportunity to be a Teaching Assistant at university, helping younger students through tough modules such as Thermodynamics and Aerodynamics. Finally I used all of my experience to tutor my younger sister, who is currently completing the A-level equivalent in Portugal
I believe that each individual student has the potential to understand complicated concepts and reach their goals. But when teaching is provided for 30+ students at the same time, it is easy to ignore the particularities, making learning harder for everyone. I believe that teaching comes from understanding the student and their approach to learning. It is about asking questions to test the student approach to understand how they tackle a subject. Noone is going to have the same approach, but that does not mean that their approach is wrong. With appropriate tutoring, this can be an advantage and learning can be more effective and rewarding.
