Dedicated to supporting children to achieve to their best, I am an enthusiastic, reflective and hardworking Primary School Teacher. Over the past five years, I have worked exclusively as a Specialist Intervention Teacher in a local primary school. During this time, I have enabled many students to make accelerated progress by building self-esteem that empowers them to become more confident, independent learners. I strive to make learning creative, fun and relevant whenever possible. With regard to tutoring, I work alongside schools who have identified gaps in learning or through my own assessment. In addition, I have extensive experience in tutoring for the Year 6 SATs exams and studying for the 11+. I am keen to tutor children during the day who are being home educated, who may need just a few weeks tutoring or more long term. I mainly work on a 1:1 basis but I am happy to work with groups (for example SATs practice). If this is of interest, we can discuss fees dependent on the size of the group.
I studied Primary Education at Brighton University and have worked in schools for seventeen years. During this time, I have worked in international schools in Panama and Spain. I have a wealth of experience, particularly in KS2 as well as preparing for Year 6 SATs and the 11+. Currently within Brighton schools, I am tutoring students from Year 2 to Year 6 to enable them to close their attainment gap or reach their academic potential. I believe that every child has the right to succeed and there are many different approaches to reaching goals set.
My aim is for children to look forward to their tutoring sessions and to progress in the subject. To do this, I strive to finish each session with laughter and praise and to build a positive relationship with the tutee. I take a holistic approach, adapting learning and activities to ensure that sessions are personalised to each individual. Previous learning is revised through quick games or verbally and built on during sessions. Through encouragement, praise and nurture, my objective is to establish a positive growth mindset and to build resilience. Children become more confident to voice what they need to progress, to set next steps and to develop into lifelong learners.
