Pete is an experienced teacher and tutor of Mathematics. Since in 2002, he has worked in schools in China, the UK, and Switzerland with students who have gone to study at Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London.
It was during his time working as a teacher in Switzerland that he was lucky enough to start a teacher training course on particle physics at CERN, which led to him leaving the teaching profession to study antimatter. This followed to studying for a PhD in air quality, which related to his exposure to air pollution while he taught in Beijing some years before.
20 years private IGCSE, A-Level and IB Mathematics and Further Mathematics tutoring; and 6 years international school IGCSE, A-Level and IB Mathematics and Further Mathematics teaching.
Students will develop confidence and a joy of learning Mathematics with Pete. The subject comes alive when it is relatable and easy. Mathematics is a language, beyond the symbols is one of the beauties of nature.
Practising exam technique is critical for exam success. Being clear and concise is key to help the examiner understand and follow the student’s work, and for the student to successfully complete a complex question.
Online tutoring provides recorded sessions for the student to look back over explanations again, and active subtitles for students who would benefit from live written communication.
Pete is happy to work closely with the parent/guardian.
