I have had a lifetime in education. Much of it teaching mathematics at all levels from primary to O level / IGCSE / GCSE / Additional Mathematics and A level.
I have tutored and mentored a large range of students from different countries, different social backgrounds and different levels of ability.
Now, semi - retired I would like to help students unravel what they may see as the mysteries of mathematics.
I have taught mathematics at all levels in independent and state schools and spent the last twenty years working in schools in South - East Asia.
Most of that time I was the Head of international schools.
I have been an examiner for Additional Mathematics and currently mark GCSE mathematics.
I believe in letting the tutee set the height of the bar initially and I try to steer them at a pace they are comfortable with.
I think I am patient and where necessary I will always try to adopt a different approach to problem - solving if one or other approach is causing confusion.
I use continuous assessment, as much to give myself feedback as to test the grasp of the student.
