I am 75years old, with two children and five grandchildren. We moved to Filey 14 years ago after I retired from teaching full-time. I have always enjoyed all sports and have coached rugby for a number of years at Junior level;. I still play squash regularly and play the saxophone for fun.
I began teaching in London after working in the Midlands for a car component manufacturer. I was Head of Maths for about 20 years in a number of schools then worked as a Numeracy Consultant for Essex until I retired. I have taught part-time at Filey School, at Scarborough Sixth Form College and at Scarborough UTC.
I enjoy teaching, helping students to overcome difficulties that they may have with maths and give them the confidence to succeed. I try to tailor the tuition to the needs of the student and to bring the subject to life. I use games and problems to make the lessons interesting and believe that maths should be enjoyed as well as a means to an end.
