Hello! I am a MSc student at the university of York. I have a strong passion for music and enjoy playing several instruments, although guitar is my main instrument. I have two bands currently and enjoy weekly Jams with a variety of people and I am currently working on producing two albums. Improvisation and composition are my favorite things when it comes to music.
I have taught several people informally over many years and have enjoyed seeing them improve enthusiastically. Now some have their own bands and have composed their own songs.
I am very flexible when it comes to teaching style. I find that people learn in different ways and that enjoyment is an important catalyst of that process.
I intend to teach what the student wants to learn, may it be just playing songs, composing, understanding music, improvisation or a combination of these. I also intend to have a clear idea of what will be covered in each lesson, once I know the students level.
I have not had any formal training in teaching music (although quite some practical experience). I was lucky enough to have a great teacher, with a great method which I shall do my best to tailor to the individual.
My object is to teach enough until the person can start learning on his own and develop his or her style as most natural.
