I am an Indian student in my third year of PhD (Marine Technology - Offshore Engineering) at Newcastle University with 6+ years of tutoring experience in maths, physics, sciences and engineering.
I always supported teaching STEM subjects to young students. I love maths and love teaching, so it is a best opportunity to do both at the same time. As a school topper in Maths and Science as well as university topper in Mechanics, I think I am the most suitable candidate for the job. Furthermore, I am an engineering researcher who wants to pursue his career in the academics.
Before the start of the corona pandemic, I have been teaching online, so have a good understanding of the effects that the lockdown has had on the confidence and learning of the students. Teaching students at several different schools has made me aware that there is a big discrepancy between the amount and type of teaching and support students have been receiving.
As you can see in my experience, I worked as a Postgraduate Demonstrator, Lab Demonstrator and Assessor, Project Supervisor and Instructor, even as an Assistant Professor for year 11 to university level students. Mostly I taught them Engineering Maths/ Analytics and Engineering Mechanics/ Sciences subjects. I am also tutoring pupils for their Maths and Sciences at Primary School, GCSE and A-level. My biggest strengths are excellent communications skills, including listening to the needs of the students.

Tutoring for 5 years with great success in boosting confidence; improving skills and knowledge; developing speed and fluency in the subject; increasing results in exams by several grades. I have had students from 11-year-olds to career changers; tutoring Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering and Economics; from secondary age to undergraduate level but with the majority at NCEES FE and PE exams.
My approach is to be a 'guide' to my students, helping them to learn maths using their own thinking, thus making sessions a shared learning experience. I encourage my students to set their own ‘agenda’, ask questions and work with them to improve their confidence and ability.
