I am very passionate about teaching young people Mathematics. I believe a degree in Computer Science, which was essentially applied mathematics, along with the 13 years I have been teaching in an inner-city London school have allowed me to develop a deep understanding of teaching mathematics.
During this time, I have developed and enhanced many aspects of my teaching, pastoral care, curriculum and teacher development as well as leadership skills.
I have been tutoring for 10 years alongside teaching and have thoroughly enjoyed seeing my students achieve thier desired goals and ambitions.
I am always experimenting and adapting my teaching style constantly catering the way I teach the Maths Syllabus to suit the needs of my students. Presenting concepts in different ways that develop understanding is a fundamental pillar to my teaching ethos. This process is essential in making the material developed both accessible and interesting for students to engage with. I find that students already know more than they think and I attempt to draw this out on a continuous basis through effective questioning techniques, rich activities and discussions. I firmly believe that problem solving in maths teaching is an essential part to a student’s development towards mathematical mastery. Effective teaching for learning is with-out doubt a two-way process. The teacher and students must have equally high expectations of one another for a successful teaching relationship. I am able to deliver an exceptional mathematical and numeracy curriculum to learners of all levels.
